I go by the nickname Cytrus on most sites. I’ve been an anime fan, and a fan of all kinds of fiction for that matter, for most of my life. The results of my non-blog net activities to date can be found on my fanfiction.net account and the character profile section of the International Saimoe League site. I’m majoring in linguistics, with a split English/Japanese speciality. Also spent a year studying in Kyoto.
About this blog:
Yaranakya was born in the summer of 2011, the child of my interest in both anime and linguistics, and a desperate need to procrastinate before exams. It focuses on and explores the theme of ‘words’ in anime. Sometimes it’s salvaging a detail which cannot survive translation. Sometimes it’s a more exhaustive analysis of what everybody instinctively knows. Sometimes it’s relating a theme found in fiction to things in real life. And other times it is something the author himself doesn’t completely comprehend.
Rather than long and exhaustive essays, you can expect short departures into the interesting tidbits of ongoing and past series. I won’t attempt to think for the reader (you are smarter than me, anyway), but I’d be happy if anyone notices something new in a series they like or in the hobby as a whole thanks to my posts.
It’s not much, so make sure to enjoy it for what it’s worth ;).
