Hayate no Gotoku author, Hata Kenjirou, has recently asked fans of the manga (via his twitter account) to point out elements of the unresolved foreshadowing so far they would like to see addressed in future chapters. This way, Hata hopes to prepare a list and make sure he doesn’t leave any loose plot threads unresolved (a viable concern with a manga title that has been running for several years now, and is planned to run several more if all goes well).
What followed was a veritable waterfall of tweets. But of course, Hata probably wouldn’t mind more suggestions. If any of you have something you want addressed, I’d be happy to translate the request and send it to Hata. Just keep in mind that the very basic ones – everyone’s past, missing parents and the like have already been covered, so the more specific you are the better.
THAT is how a story should be written. This pretty much guarantees the manga of being awesome for years to come.
Getting too caught up in details can sometimes backfire, but I believe Hata can keep the story moving ahead at a good pace while taking his fans’ opinions and questions into account. Looking forward to what future Hayate chapters bring us.
I’m still trying to catch up with current chapters, so it will be interesting to see how things go. That said, I wonder if Hata-sensei is planning to wind the manga down.
Not long ago, Hata stated that the manga was around 60% done. Which in this case means that he still has years of material to cover if the editors let him.
Having gone through the disappointment of the sudden ending of Negima!, I find I don’t trust these manga-ka anymore. ^_^;
I didn’t mind the ending of Negima as much as most people did (as you can guess from my Negima post from a while back) but it is true that there were many plot points there still waiting to be explored. Then again, Negima’s popularity had been slowly dwindling (for some reason I will never understand, people preferred the fanservice focus from the initial chapters to the later magi battles), so it was to be expected that Akamatsu would experience editorial pressure. Truth be told, I’m still hoping to see something more Negima-related in the future, though.
Hata, on the other hand, seems to be holding his ground quite well. With a live drama and the third anime series in store, it should be possible for him to maintain fan interest for quite some time. Of course, I’m a complete Hata fanboy, so I’ll be reading him till the end either way ;).
I realy want to know what happened with A-tan/Alice and she being Hayate and Hina’s “child” (Isn’t supposed she need to be with them and do something to return to her teenage body?). Or what happened to Ayumu’s younger brother, Hayate’s brother or Himegami and other forgotten characters…
What happened with the other stones (like that one Nagi broke)
I think all the points above have been covered on the question list, so you can rest assured that Hata will get to them at some point. The stones appeared on a recent chapter cover too, so they are sure to remain a central part of the plot.
[…] that Hayate was 60% complete. And the he recently asked his fans on twitter if they had any unresolved plot threads that they absolutely need to make sure get resolved before the manga ends. Reactions to this have […]
Maybe he should try adding something with that awesome special move. I really want to see how that turns out. Like, when he saved his mistress from the fake money loving priest’s robot. If not, i kinda want to learn more about his romance…

Cytrus, could you please help me translate something that I really want to request of Hata Kenjiro?
While this post is long out of date, Hata does own a twitter account and whatnot. Feel free to post your message and I’ll see what I can do.
Cytrus, could you please help me translate something that I really want to request of Hata Kenjiro?And send it to him, please?
I can probably help with the translation. As for sending the message, I recommend you use Twitter to send it to his @hatakenjiro account.
